Syracuse - 4th Fastest Growing Real Estate Market

Money, CNN. May 7, 2008 - Yes, even amid the housing crisis, parts of the U.S. are still expected to post price gains in the coming year, according to Money Magazine. Syracuse was named 4th in the County  to see the greatest price gains this year by CNN - Money Magazine. This May Syracuse is expected to see a 2.6% increase in value from 2007 - there are only three other Cities in the Country expected to do better.

Thoughts on the Future of Syracuse Real Estate

In February Syracuse Mayor Matt Driscoll announced some new ideas for fixing up Syracuse's housing at his State of the City.  We've been creative in finding new ways to construct new home and rehabilitate older ones, often with public subsidy, Driscoll said at the speech, those public dollars are limited so we need to find ways to do more. 

Home Prices Stable in Syracuse

The National Association of Realtors reported a 2.9% increase in existing home sales in February, the first national monthly increase in the last seven months. The turnaround was most notable here in the northeast, where home sales surged by 11.3%.

The median sales price of exisitng homes nationaly fell to $195,000 in Febuary. Reports from the Central New York Information Service and Greater Syracuse REALTOR Assocation show that median price for Onondaga County was $124,650 in Febuary 2008 which is slightly up compared to last years $124,250.
