Re: NAR Update:  Health Care Reform

Dear Fellow REALTOR®,

On Thursday, March 25th, 2010, the House of Representatives and the Senate approved the last of two health reform bills.   HR 4872, the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act, makes changes to HR 3590, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, signed into law by the President on Tuesday, March 23rd.  HR 4872 now goes to the President who has indicated that he will sign the bill.

Migdalia Murati from HUD will be hosting a seminar at GSAR, she will be discussing all of the FHA changes that are taking place. Please find time in your schedule to R.S.V.P. for a seat at this important presentation.

In 2009, the Treasury Department introduced the HAFA program to provide a viable option for homeowners who are unable to keep their homes through the existing Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP). The HAFA program takes effect on April 5, 2010-although some servicers may implement it sooner, if they meet certain requirement--and sunsets on December 31, 2012.
