NAR's GREEN Designation Courses Come to GSAR!

REALTORS - Earn your Green Designation! Pass both courses and earn NAR's newest designation.

GSAR Requirement Reminder

All members of the Greater Syracuse Association of REALTORS® (GSAR) are required to attend New Member Orientation within 180 days of joining the Association. 

New Member Orientation is a day and a half program which includes Code of Ethics and Agency training (for which you will receive four hours of continuing education (CE) credit) as well as a lot of useful information about your memberships in NAR, NYSAR and GSAR. 

2010 Economic Forecast

The Syracuse Chamber of Commerce held their annual Economic Forecast at the OnCenter on January 21st.

Speakers from M&T Bank for this event included: Jim Thorne, Chief Investment Officer: Equities, Robert Truesdall, Chief Investment Officer:  Fixed Income and Gary Keith, Vice President, Regional Economist.

REALTORS donate $550K to Haiti relief

The REALTORS Relief Foundation of the National Association of REALTORS is contributing $550,000 to charities that will help bring supplies and care to the people of Haiti. Included in this sum is $100,000 donated by REALTOR Benefits Program partner Lowe's, which NAR has matched. From that, they will be donating $50,000 to The Harvest of Haiti, founded by REALTOR Patrick Moore, a 2007 Good Neighbor Award winner.

REALTOR Grant and Mentoring Program Seeks Nominations

REALTOR® Magazine's Good Neighbor Society is seeking entries for Volunteering Works, a program that matches Realtors® who would like to expand their community service outreach with a mentor and grant money. Mentors are part of the Good Neighbor Society, past recipients of the magazine's annual Good Neighbor Award for volunteerism.

Summary of Regulatory Changes in Mortgage Banking

Please see below, a summary of regulatory changes that have taken effect recently, and might affect you in your business.

MDIA-Mortgage Disclosure Improvement Act. 

The Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2009 amended the truth in lending act (Regulation Z).  This applies to primary and second homes, and was effective July 30th.
